Four-day meeting of Nepali Congress National Council concludes
The four-day meeting of the Nepali Congress national council concluded on Thursday after presenting the suggestions received from the group-wise discussion held on various reports during the past three days. The Mahasamiti meeting of the Nepali Congress has been underway in Godavari, Lalitpur since February 19. In the ongoing policy-making conclave, mahasamiti meeting, of the biggest political party, Nepali Congress, a proposal of 'Vedic sanatan Hindu state along with religious freedom' was presented on Thursday. The conclave witnessed signatures of 1,063 maha samiti members in the proposal. Most of the maha samiti members representing Madhes Province and Sudurpaschim Province raised the issue of the Hindu state.
The signature drive was launched by the Sanatan Hindu State Nepal Mega Campaign coordinated by central member Shankar Bhandari. Bhandari submitted the proposal to NC party President Sher Bahadur Deuba after informing the maha samiti meeting about the need and relevance of the agenda.
Another political party in Nepal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) held a demonstration in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon demanding monarchy and a Hindu state. RPP staged the demonstration at Bhrikuti Mandap before submitting a 40-point memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday afternoon.
