The United Kingdom recently inaugurated a new visa center in Paris to support smoother visa procedures for visitors and residents from France and beyond. Opened on November 5, the center is intended to expedite the visa process for non-French nationals residing in France as well as EU citizens requiring UK visas for extended stays, such as for work or study.
Operated by VFS Global, the new center offers priority and super-priority visa services, allowing applicants to receive quicker responses. VFS Global announced that applicants will automatically be directed to its platform for scheduling and completing visa applications. Anirudh Singh, VFS Global’s Chief Operating Officer for Europe & CIS, highlighted the company’s commitment to a smooth and efficient visa application experience at the new facility.
According to recent data, over 3.2 million French nationals visited the UK last year, making France one of the top countries sending visitors to the UK for business, tourism, and educational purposes.
New ETA Requirement for EU Citizens
However, entry requirements will shift next year. From April 2, 2025, all EU nationals will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for short stays in the UK unless they hold permission to live, work, or study there. The ETA, costing €11, will be valid for two years and will require applicants to provide personal information.
