Peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia convened in Berlin.
Germany is serving as a mediator with the objective of attaining a peaceful resolution to outstanding issues. Berlin (d.de) – Peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan are scheduled to occur in Berlin on February 28th and 29th, 2024. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz initiated the negotiations following discussions with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during the Munich Security Conference. Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock previously visited both nations in early November 2023. Baerbock will engage with the negotiating teams from both countries at Villa Borsig, the official guest house of the Foreign Minister. Germany advocates for the peaceful resolution of unresolved matters between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of concluding the peace talks promptly. The German government, along with Europe, stands prepared to extend full support, with backing from President of the European Council Charles Michel, the Federal Government affirmed.
