Preferred European Golden Visa Programs Among Americans
As per a Newsweek report, the top Golden Visa destinations for Americans include Portugal, Greece, Malta, and Spain, despite recent changes in these programs.
Portugal and Spain recently removed real estate investments from their Golden Visa options, while Greece increased the minimum investment amount required for real estate-based visas. Real estate experts in Portugal and Spain, however, report that these changes haven’t dampened demand for Golden Visas.
Juan Carlos Lois, an international mobility specialist in Spain, noted a sharp rise in applications following the removal of real estate options. In August alone, Spain saw nearly three times more applications compared to the same month in 2023.
Similarly, Gustavo Caiuby, managing partner of Heed Capital, highlighted that interest in Portugal’s Golden Visa remains high among North and South Americans. He noted that inquiries into Portugal’s program have quadrupled since the start of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
