Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Meets President Paudel
Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong concluded his three-day official visit to Kathmandu.
On Wednesday, Sun paid a courtesy call to President Ramchandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas. During the meeting, President Paudel highlighted the long-standing development partnership between Nepal and China and expressed optimism for continued support as Nepal graduates from the Least Developed Countries (LDC) status in 2026.
The Chinese Vice Minister Sun also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha earlier today. They discussed various matters of bilateral relations and cooperation during the occasion, the Foreign Ministry said. They also discussed bringing various cross-border trade points into operation. He had called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal earlier on Monday. Sun and his delegation arrived in Kathmandu on a three-day official visit on Monday. The Chinese Vice Minister also led the Chinese delegation at the 16th meeting of Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism on Tuesday. Both countries stressed the need to further activate the existing bilateral mechanisms and establish new ones, including the Joint Commission at the foreign ministers-level.
Earlier, Sun met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha to discuss bilateral relations and cross-border trade points. Sun also led the Chinese delegation at the 16th meeting of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism. Concluding his visit, Sun departed from Kathmandu, with Krishna Prasad Dhakal from the Foreign Affairs Ministry bidding him farewell at Tribhuvan International Airport.
