DB to Introduce Three Daily Train Services Between Berlin and Krakow
Deutsche Bahn to Launch Three Daily Trains Between Berlin and Kraków
Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced it will soon operate three direct trains daily between Berlin and Kraków. The German rail company, which currently offers two connections per day between the two cities, will introduce the third route on December 15, 2024, with tickets already available for booking on the DB website. The direct trip, which will take over seven hours, includes a stop in Wrocław.
Kraków, Poland’s second-largest city after Warsaw, is known for sites like the Wieliczka Salt Mine, St. Mary’s Basilica, and Wawel Royal Castle, which served as a Nazi headquarters during the occupation. The city is also the nearest major location to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp in Europe.
Deutsche Bahn Fare Increases from December 15
Alongside these new routes, DB will also increase long-distance ticket prices from December 15. The Flexpreis tickets will see an average rise of 5.9%, and the BahnCard 100 subscription will increase by an average of 6.6%. However, prices for the BahnCard 50 and BahnCard 25 will remain unchanged, as will the Sparpreis (€21.99) and Supersparpreis (€17.99) tickets for long-distance travel. According to DB, eight out of 10 customers use these discount tickets, which are best booked well in advance.
