Dubai reduces processing time for work and residency visas from 30 days to 5 through new platform.
The newly launched Work Bundle platform has significantly streamlined the process for acquiring work permits and residency visas in Dubai, reducing the processing time from nearly a month to just five days. This integrated procedure also minimizes the required documents from 16 to five and reduces the number of visits to service centers from seven to only two, as announced during a press conference.
Work Bundle consolidates all procedures across various government entities, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre), Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Department of Economy and Tourism, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). Initially introduced in Dubai, the platform will later extend to other emirates.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized that the Work Bundle platform will simplify and expedite residency and work permit procedures, leading to significant time and cost savings. The initiative is projected to reclaim 62 million working days and reduce 25 million procedures annually, benefiting both governmental and private sectors.
The Work Bundle platform centralizes employment services such as renewal, cancellation, medical examinations, and fingerprinting. Initially accessible through the 'Invest in Dubai' website and mobile app, it will subsequently integrate with other government digital platforms and the 'Work in UAE' website.
The collaborative effort involves key government entities, including Mohre, ICP, GDRFA, and DHA, with support from Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and Digital Dubai. The primary objectives of Work Bundle are to streamline business establishment and management processes, reducing the steps from 15 to five and documents from 16 to five. Moreover, it minimizes visits to government entities from seven to two, effectively cutting down the processing time from 30 working days to just five.
For employees abroad, the recruitment process involves filling out a unified application and obtaining a work permit, followed by residency procedures such as medical examinations and Emirates ID issuance. Similarly, the renewal service entails the completion of a unified application by the company owner, followed by medical examinations and Emirates ID issuance for the employee.
