The Italian passport has been recognized as the most powerful in Europe and the second strongest worldwide, offering extensive travel freedom for its holders.

According to the VisaGuide Passport Index, the Italian passport scores 90.49 points, allowing visa-free entry to 107 countries. Additionally, Italian citizens can enter 44 countries without a passport, a privilege not extended to holders of Singapore's top-ranked passport.

Italian Passport: Europe's Top for Three Consecutive Months

For three months running, Italy's passport has been the strongest in Europe and second globally. In the preceding months of February and March, it was ranked third globally and second in the EU, trailing Spain.

Italian passport holders can enter ten countries with an eTA and 20 countries with a Visa-On-Arrival (VOA), including Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia. Moreover, 21 countries, such as Azerbaijan, India, and Russia, permit entry with an eVisa, while 17 countries, including Afghanistan and Algeria, require a visa.

Other European Passports

Spanish and French passports follow closely, ranking third and fourth globally, with visa-free access to 106 and 104 countries, respectively. Both require visas for 17 countries, with passport scores of 90.48 and 90.45.

Overall, EU passport holders enjoy significant global mobility, with many of their passports ranking among the top 20 globally.

Singapore: World's Strongest Passport for Four Months

The Singaporean passport remains the world’s most powerful for the fourth consecutive month, offering visa-free entry to 159 countries, including the Schengen Area, Australia, the UK, and the US. Singapore citizens require a VOA for 27 countries and visas for 19, including Afghanistan and North Korea.
