Kaunas lights feathered Christmas tree

On Saturday, Kaunas became the first Lithuanian city to light its Christmas tree. 

The feathers decorating the Christmas tree in Kaunas central Town Hall Square symbolise lightness, according to the author Jolanta Šmidtienė.

An educational game on the theme will also be held in the city centre.

“An angel flew through Kaunas and scattered 15 feathers, so we invite people to try to find them by playing a game in Kaunas Old Town. Of course, those who succeed in this task will receive mini gifts,” said Agnė Augonė, head of the Culture Department at Kaunas City Municipality.

During the festive period, the Christmas tree in Kaunas will be surrounded by a Christmas town, where visitors will be able to enjoy warm drinks and other treats. From Thursday to Sunday, there will also be a Christmas market and various activities for children.
