Public Transport Ticket Price Increase Announced in Berlin
The Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB) has announced a 7.5 percent fare increase for public transport tickets starting in 2025.
Berlin Public Transport Tickets to Rise in 2025
From the new year, single-ride tickets for Berlin's U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, and bus services in the AB zones will increase from €3.50 to €3.80 per trip. The four-ride ticket (4-Fahrten-Karte) will also see a price increase, rising from €10.80 to €11.60. This 7.5 percent hike follows a 7 percent increase implemented at the start of 2024. Though the VBB has proposed this adjustment, final approval is still pending from the transport advisory board.
Will the €29 Berlin Ticket Also See an Increase?
Since July 1, 2024, Berliners have had access to the €29 "Berlin Abo" monthly ticket for the AB zones. Currently, there are no plans to increase its price in 2025.
However, the Deutschlandticket, valid nationwide on public and regional transport, is set for an increase. Starting January 1, 2025, the Deutschlandticket subscription will rise to €58 per month. Discounts remain for the Deutschlandticket Job ticket, at a minimum of €34.30, and the Semesterticket for students at €29.40 per month.
If you purchased your Deutschlandticket through Deutsche Bahn, remember that subscriptions must be canceled by the 10th of the month to avoid being charged for the following month. Therefore, cancellations should be submitted by December 10 to avoid the higher rate in January. Different cancellation policies may apply if purchased through the BVG or another provider.
