Schengen Alert: Greece Restarts Visa Operations in India Beginning February 12
Indian travellers can now apply for a Greece visa online and visit a Visa Application Centre (VAC) to complete biometric formalities and submit their documents.
Those planning a trip to Greece can resume their visa applications after Global Visa Center World (GVCW) announced that Greece Visa Application Centres across India have restarted operations.
In an official statement, GVCW confirmed: “We are pleased to inform you that, effective 12 February 2026, all Visa Application Centers for Greece in India will resume operations.”
Applicants have been advised to schedule appointments through the designated booking platform and ensure all required documents are ready before visiting the centre. GVCW is the authorised partner handling Greece visa services in India.
How to apply for a Greece (Schengen) visa from India
Indian citizens can apply online and complete the remaining formalities at a VAC. The process involves the following steps:
1. Choose the appropriate visa category
Determine whether you need a short-stay Schengen visa (for tourism, business, or visiting family, valid up to 90 days) or a long-stay visa (for work or study).
2. Fill out the online application form
Complete the Schengen visa application form through the official GVCW website.
3. Gather the required documents
Applicants must prepare:
-
Passport: Valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure date, with at least two blank pages
-
Photographs: Two recent passport-size photos
-
Travel proof: Confirmed return flight tickets and accommodation details (hotel booking or invitation letter)
-
Travel insurance: Coverage of at least €30,000 valid across all Schengen countries
-
Financial documents: Bank statements from the past 3–6 months, salary slips, and Income Tax Returns (ITR)
-
Cover letter: Clearly stating the purpose of travel
4. Book and attend your appointment
Schedule an appointment at a GVCW centre in cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and others. Applicants must appear in person to provide biometric data, including fingerprints.
5. Submit documents and pay the fee
Carry the printed and signed application form along with all supporting documents. Visa fees, including service charges, generally range between ₹8,000 and ₹14,890, depending on the services selected.
6. Track your application
Applicants can monitor their visa status online through the GVCW portal.
Processing time and important notes
Applications can be submitted up to six months before the planned travel date. Processing typically takes around 15 days, though travellers are encouraged to apply well in advance to avoid delays.
Authorities have also noted that visa rules and fees may change. Applicants should consult the official GVCW website for the most up-to-date information before applying.
