An inquiry has been initiated regarding 39 Pakistanis who entered the European Union by obtaining visas through illegitimate means.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Pakistan has initiated a probe following the discovery that numerous individuals falsely posing as lawyers gained entry into the European Union by acquiring visas through unauthorized use of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) letterheads.
As explained by the SCBA, a comprehensive investigation is necessary to examine the misuse of its letterheads, which facilitated the improper entry of individuals not affiliated with the association. An unassigned letter purportedly issued by the SCBA was sent to the Austrian embassy, deceptively utilizing the association's letterheads to enable the entry of 39 individuals into the EU, falsely claiming to be lawyers and SCBA members. This incident occurred in June of the preceding year, according to Dawn.
In the course of an internal inquiry, it was uncovered that the Austrian embassy was approached to issue Schengen visas to members of this association, with the communication being conducted on SCBA letterheads.
The document sent to the Austrian embassy for visa issuance to these 39 individuals bears a reference number that had been used previously. Following the filing of a complaint, there is suspicion that most of these individuals have successfully entered the EU and are currently within the bloc, having not returned to their home country.
Given the gravity of the situation, the SCBA has urged a prompt investigation, emphasizing the need to identify and penalize those responsible for misusing SCBA letterheads. The SCBA has also called for an inquiry into individuals and companies accountable for managing the air tickets and itineraries of those who irregularly entered the EU.
Although the SCBA has pressed for an immediate investigation, it remains uncertain whether Austrian authorities are aware that 39 Pakistanis were issued Schengen visas unlawfully and may currently be in the country. Since these individuals entered the bloc through fraudulently obtained Schengen visas, they may also be present in other member states, staying there irregularly.
This case is just one among several instances where nationals from third countries irregularly entered the EU. Earlier this month, a group of Moroccans entered the EU using forged Schengen visas, and eight individuals were arrested for involvement in document forgery related to Schengen visa applications.
