Bangladesh and Qatar have signed ten cooperation agreements aimed at elevating their bilateral relations to a higher level.
• The documents comprise five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

On Tuesday, Bangladesh and Qatar inked ten cooperation agreements, including five agreements and five MoUs, aimed at bolstering ties across various sectors and propelling relations to new heights. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani oversaw the signing ceremony. The five agreements cover cooperation in the legal realm between Bangladesh and the State of Qatar, the promotion and safeguarding of mutual investments, the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion regarding income taxes between Qatar and Bangladesh, maritime transport, and the establishment of a Joint Business Council (JBC) between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI). Additionally, the five MoUs encompass cooperation in sports and youth, manpower employment (Labour), diplomatic training, education, higher education, and scientific research between Bangladesh and Qatar, as well as collaboration between Qatar Ports Management Company "MAWANI QATAR" and the Chittagong Ports Authority.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina warmly greeted and hosted Emir Sheikh Tamim at her office. They engaged in a tête-à-tête meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, followed by bilateral discussions. After signing the visitors' book, the Emir proceeded to Bangabhaban in the afternoon, where he was received by the President. A high-level Qatari delegation, led by the Emir, is currently undertaking a state visit to Bangladesh, invited by both the President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
