France Mandates Online Visa Appointment Booking for All Travelers
Key Highlights
-
France has made it compulsory for all travellers to book visa appointments online.
-
The rule applies to everyone, including applicants for Schengen short-stay and long-stay national visas.
-
The new process aims to streamline operations at visa application centres and reduce processing delays.
France Introduces Mandatory Online System for Visa Appointments
The French government has implemented a mandatory digital platform for all visa applicants, requiring both Schengen short-stay and long-stay visa seekers to schedule their appointments online. This move is designed to enhance efficiency, reduce congestion, and eliminate fraudulent bookings in the visa system.
According to local reports, no exemptions have been announced, meaning all travellers must follow the new online process when applying for a French visa. Those planning a trip to France should prepare to use the updated platform to complete their application process.
Steps to Apply for a French Visa
To apply for a visa, applicants should use official tools like the Visa Wizard and Démarches Simplifiées platforms.
-
Visa Wizard helps determine visa eligibility, the type of visa required, and the documents and fees involved.
-
Once eligibility is confirmed, travellers must register on Démarches Simplifiées to book their visa appointment.
The registration form collects details such as the purpose of travel, travel dates, and duration of stay. After submitting valid information, applicants will receive a confirmation letter and proceed to the in-person appointment at the visa centre to submit biometric data, documents, and pay the visa fee.
France Expands Visa Services Across Morocco
In an effort to make visa access more inclusive, France is expanding its services in Morocco to cities such as Dakhla, Laayoune, and Es-Semara. TLS Contact, France’s visa service partner, has begun operations in Laayoune to offer easier access for local residents.
“In accordance with the President’s commitment during his visit last October, we’ve extended visa services to Laayoune through TLS, ensuring residents here have equal access,”
