10-year Blue Residency visa
The UAE has launched the 10-year Blue Residency visa for individuals who have played a significant role in safeguarding the environment, whether on land or in the marine domain.
This initiative was championed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of Dubai, who stated on social media platform X, "The year 2024 will mark a focus on sustainability. Today, we have endorsed the 'Blue Residency,' a 10-year residency granted to individuals demonstrating exceptional dedication and achievements in environmental conservation, including marine and terrestrial efforts, air quality enhancement, sustainable practices, modern technologies, circular economy, and related fields."
He further emphasized, "Our economic sustainability is intricately linked to environmental sustainability, reflecting our clear and consistent national directives in this realm."
Golden Visas - Ten-year residency program
While standard residency visas in the UAE typically have a two-year validity, in 2019, the nation introduced the Golden Visas program, offering a decade-long residency. Targeting investors, scientists, entrepreneurs, exemplary students and graduates, and humanitarian leaders, among others, this initiative aimed to attract top talent to the UAE. Following this, the UAE introduced Green Visas after three years, providing a five-year validity period and catering to skilled professionals, investors, freelancers, and entrepreneurs.
